A Rawmarsh group | Thanks to the wonderful Internet these people have been identified by a member of the Briggs family, George Briggs - they are left to right: Margaret Jackson; Lillian Eccles (nee Briggs); Norman Hickling; William Briggs (Senior) - originally the family name was Bridges; and at the extreme right, Edward Eccles. (The crutches at the end were probably Norman's - he suffered from the effects of mustard gas from WW1.) Dennis Lound informs me that the picture was taken outside Cleethorpes Railway Station.
Unknown couple | Sitting on the front bumper of an open top vehicle; George thinks this couple might be Lillian and Edward Eccles. My friend, Christine Ellis does not agree that this photo is of Lillian and Ted Eccles.
Rosehill School, Rawmarsh | Standard Seven - I don't recognise anyone and the year is unknown - George Briggs thinks that Elsie or Phyllis Briggs might be one of the school girls on this photo.
Picnic with the Barons | Mabel Baron was a good friend of my Mothers, she had a fashion shop in Doncaster and later in London where her fashion shop was called "Madame Ottoway" - Mabel is seen here with her sons Christopher and Robin; and me on the right.

Braithwaite group | Photo from my cousin, Dorothy Gibbons - Dorothy wrote "Front Row - two I don't know them (the girl may be 'young' Lucy's sister); Walter Kenworthy; Ethel; Lucy May; Joe Hall (Annie's younger son, brought up by Lucy May); I think the girl at the end is Joe's daughter."

Another trip? | My Mother with Roy, I think on the way to Blackpool.
A seaside group | My Mother with Roy in the pushchair - I have been unable to identify anyone else. Although my cousin Dorothy thinks that the Adults from right to left are - George Haywood, Ethel Haywood, Beatrice Chapman, Charles Chapman, Irene Braithwaite, and one unknown man on extreme left. The children, from right to left might be Harry Chapman, Roy Braithwaite or Cyril Chapman in the pram and Jack Chapman on the end. Dorothy guesses that the year might be 1927 before her parents, George and Effie were married.
Albert and David Roy Braithwaite | There's a large boat in the background and steep sides to the river - is it the Bristol channel? And is the boat a paddle steamer?
David Roy Braithwaite | This was a holiday picture, although I don't know the identify of the little girl in the pushchair.
Roy with Mary Dewsbury | The Dewsbury's were friends of our parents. I think their names were Arthur and Eva Dewsbury.
Aunt Eva, Mary and Dad | This photograph was taken at the bottom of our garden, in front of the garages. Eva and Mary Dewbury - in the 1924 Kelly's directory for Rotherham, there's an entry "Dewsbury, Arthur Foster M.P.S. chemist, 89a Kilnhurst road" and I think that this was their business, before they moved to Leeds.

Dennis Lound has kindly let me know that the players are: left to right - Bob Parker, John Bettany, Eric Brookes, Dick Hewitt, Roy Ironside, Rodger Barton and Johnny Evans. |
Arthur's business card |
Five unknown men | Both these photos were found in my parent's photo collection - probably Braithwaite's?
Three unknown men |
Jean Braithwaite supplied this photo. | Our cousin Dorothy Gibbons identified it as being taken at the wedding of Rene Stanley and Jack Sanderson; Rene's parents were William Stanley and Edith Braithwaite. William had died in 1926, and James Arthur Braithwaite (2nd right) gave Rene away. The girl on the extreme right could be Rene's sister Ethel. The lady 2nd left might be Marian, Rene's older sister. The identity of the man on the left is not known probably Jack's best man. Dorothy added "By the way, Rene was named after your Mother, but was always known as Rene not Irene!"
Ethel Stanley | William Stanley and Edith Braithwaite's middle daughter. Ethel died Feb 1941 aged 19.
