JANE BRAITHWAITE 1854-1931
Part of the Jackson Family History Research
Jane Braithwaite was born at Hunshelf, near Stocksbridge, Yorkshire on 6 November 1849 - daughter of Robert and Harriet Micklethwaite. Her brother, Josiah, was my Grandfather.

1881 Census
Jane had moved with her parents away from Stocksbridge - they were living in nearby Dronfield on Green Lane. Jane had married Joe Bancroft, the marriage shown on BMD as being in the Dec. quarter of 1873 and registered at Wortley - they had moved to Dronfield to work in the Dronfield steel rail making plant owned by Wilson Cammell -

1891 Census
Jane and Joe Bancroft were at Manchester Road, Stocksbridge in 1891, but note that their two youngest children were born in Durham and Cumberland, so it looks as though they may also have migrated to Workington, but by 1891 had returned to live in Stocksbridge -

Joseph's death aged 40, in 1891 was registered at Wortley, July/Sept Quarter; Rosena was born Apr/June 1897 registered at Wortley - whose daughter is Rosena?
Tragedy again struck the family after the 1901 census, Jane's death was registered at Wortley in the July/Sept Quarter at the age of 47.
Missing from the above family is Sarah and Ruth - Sarah was in Stoke Newington working as a General Domestic servant

Ruth was a little closer to home in Normanton, Derbyshire, working as a Domestic Servant:

* I have received an email from a descendant of Willie Bancroft - Max Bancroft who lives in Sydney, Australia. Max has informed me that Willie left South Yorkshire to live in Scotland - Willie was Max's grandfather; Willie's son - Joe Bancroft, born 1928 was Max's father.
Shown in the 1911 Census John and Annie are still at the same address at Mossbay, Workington - but living alone:
